The book that you have before you originated, as the author relates in introductory pages, from the impact that a stack of news photographs made upon him. The love of people that he demonstrates, as well the wryness that appears throughout, complement his bitter opposition to war and violence, his indomitable hatred of all that smacks of racial prejudice or fascism, to make a book of heople - songs, ballads and tales of mankind, a veritable word photograph of one round world.
